La Paz Mexico is an amazing coastal city capital of the state of Baja California Sur in Northwest Mexico.
Its name means "peace" given by a Spanish explorer alluding to the peaceful atmosphere and calm Sea of Cortez.

Isla Espíritu Santo
Holy Spirit Island is one of the most visited islands in the Cortes Sea located 30Km North of La Paz. It is the largest of a group of islands. The other islands are called Isla Partida, Los Islotes, La Ballena, El Gallo y La Gallina. They are all surrounded by beautiful reefs perfect for scuba diving. Among the most popular are San Gabriel bay with a low depth reef called San Rafaelito and Isla Ballena or Whale Island with a black coral reef. You can also find Sea Lions and other marine species.
Biosphere Reserve Sierra de La Laguna
It is located 125Km Southeast of La Paz. It is the only conifer tree forest in the state of Baja California South.
It is located 22Km North of La Paz. It's a salt water lagoon with eight bays and calmed waves. Here you can find the typical mushroom rock formation typical symbol of La Paz. This is a favorite destination to spend time with family with authentic local restaurants, and aquatic equipment rentals.
El Tecolote Beach
It is located 25Km North of La Paz; perfect to swim in the sea for its low slope. You can also find aquatic equipment rental including jet skies and boats that take you to the Holy Spirit Island for exploring or Scuba Diving.
It is located 18km North of La Paz, and is the most important port in South of the Baja Peninsula. There is a ferry that takes you to Topolobampo in the state of Sinaloa.

It is located in downtown La Paz. The church has a cantera cross with neoclassic details. There are also paintings made by Jesuit missionaries.
Surfing Here are some of the most popular beaches perfect for this sport: Pescadero, Los Cerritos, La Pastora, Punta Lobos, Los Esteros and San Pedrito.
Fishing This is a popular sport with world known tournaments such as the Bisbee Offshore Circuit held in September and The Marlin Fishing Tournament, held during the month of August. La Paz has a variety of restaurants with delightful sea food and international cuisine. You can find Mexican, Spanish, Japanese, Italian, American, Chinese and other authentic restaurants.
La Paz has great atmosphere and although is not the top place for partying in the Baja Peninsula (for that go to Cabo San Lucas), you will find bars and discos where to have fun. Most bars and restaurants are located in the Golden Zone in the Alvaro Obregon Avenue near the sea side promenade also called malecon.
La Paz has its own airport (LAP) although there are very limited options for flying. There are a couple flights to and from major cities in Mexico; mainly Mexico City and Guadalajara.
To go to La Paz by air your best bet will be the San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas international airport which has regular flights from all major hubs in the US and from cities across Mexico.
Then, you will have to rent a car because it is a 190km (120mi) drive and it will take you about 2 hours.
