Here you can find coral reefs along the coast. We recommend Playa Triste (Sad Beach) for Scuba Diving 10 minutes away from Zihuatanejo with warm and calm waters. There is also Playa La Ropa (Beach The Cloth) where you can see a sunk shipped. The best place for scuba diving in Mexico, although not very close to Ixtapa, is the island of Cozumel in the Yucatan Peninsula.
This is one of the best destinations for fishing in Mexico and is increasingly becoming very popular having an International Fishing Tournament in May. You can find black and blue Marlin and yellow-tailed tuna among other species.
There are excellent beaches to practice this sport. One of them is La Saladita Beach which is 45 minutes away. Another option is Petalco Beach where the bay and the open sea meet creating waves 10 m (30 ft) high.

In Ixtapa the best way to move around is in taxi or with a group tour; unless you are the adventurous type of person that wants to travel on your own schedule. Even if you want to rent a car, there is no need to rent it for the whole length of your stay because you most likely will like to enjoy the town or the resort you are staying.
